The 2 main safety concerns are electrical and slip/falls. With electrical, if there is even the slightest chance that electricity is in contact with the water, DO NOT GO NEAR IT! Wait for us to get there. Also, be aware that slip/falls are the most common type of water related injuries. So move slow, be aware of potential electrical issues, and if in doubt, wait for us to get there
Something has caused the water damage. Perhaps it’s a burst pipe; perhaps it’s a leaking water heater. Whatever it is, if the water is continuing to spread and you can turn off the source – SAFELY – then could greatly impact the amount of damage.
The longer your items sit in the water, the more damaged they will get. If possible, move items out to a dry place. Also, placing aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and the wet floor will stop the water from wicking up the legs.
Water & flood damage is traumatic and confusing! As soon as we begin talking to you our trained experts will begin getting the information needed to resolve the situation quickly. We’ll even send you a link where you can download photos as we begin quickly packing the equipment needed for your situation.
Using state of the art equipment we survey the extent of the damage, and if the leak is continuing, find a way to stop it. We’ll also do everything possible to limit the extent of the damage – for example, putting furniture up on blocks.
Using pumps and/or extractors, excess water will be removed from the damaged area. Within minutes, we are making the situation better!
Now that the excess water is gone, we can remove the rest of the water that is trapped in the walls or flooring. This process is slower than removing the extraction process used in Step 3, but necessary to avoid further damage such as mold.
Using air scrubbers, biocides, and cleaners the impacted area is returned to pre-water damage state.
With water & flood damage, time is critical. The sooner the remediation begins, the smaller the amount of damage will be, and the less chance there will be of additional issues – like mold. We have technicians on call, and we guarantee that we will be on site quickly with state of the art equipment.
Our technicians are OSHA and IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certified. Our company is an IICRC certified company. There is no higher level of certification and training available. In addition, we do ongoing training to keep up with changes in the industry. When a SafeGuard technician shows up to deal with your water issue, you can be assured he is ready to handle any problems you have.
Whether it’s Phoenix dehumidifiers, Ideal circuit analyzers, Omniguard manometers, Delmhorst Quick Nav thermo-hygrometers, Fluke thermal imaging cameras, Flood King extractors, Dri-Eaz air movers, or OdorStop air scrubbers, SafeGuard always uses the state of the art equipment to insure the job is done professionally and quickly.
Insurance usually plays a role in water damage situations, and we deal with insurance companies hundreds of times a year. Odds are we are on a first name basis with the local adjuster – we work with them that often. So we know how to do everything we can to make sure insurance covers as much of the cost as possible.
From the beginning, we will treat you like part of our family. Because when you ask us to protect and restore your home or business, that’s exactly what you are.
The cost for water damage remediation varies widely depending on the amount of damage. However, we will review the costs before we begin our work, and our initial inspection is free during traditional work hours (9-5 Mon-Fri). We do charge a $150 fee to visit the damaged area and develop a plan after hours; however, we will be there with equipment ready to go within 2-4 hours.
Many times insurance does cover the costs of water damage. As a company that deals with insurance hundreds of times a year, we will be sure to do everything possible to get the funds needed to do the work required.
Most people are very surprised at how many water damaged things can be safely restored. With the state of the art equipment that SafeGuard uses and extensive training our crew has received, we will restore everything that can be restored
Some companies promise a “3 day process”. Each water damage situation is different; however, the vast majority are finished within a week.
Almost always you can remain in the house during the restoration process. We will use negative air pressure and plastic walls to make sure any dangerous bacteria stay away from you.
